Andrew Skanderowicz FRCS .

Our senior surgeon and medical director, Mr Andrew Skanderowicz FRCS, has been with the centre since its inception in 1989 and has specialised in cosmetic surgery for over twenty years.

He trained at St. Bartholomews Hospital, London and did his surgical training in the National Health Service in London and Nottingham. As there was no formal training in cosmetic surgery in the NHS, Andrew was invited to join a busy cosmetic surgery practice in September 1981. For the next three years, Andrew underwent formal full-time training in cosmetic surgery in the private sector.

In May 1982 he went to Paris to study the new procedure of Liposuction and was formally trained by the father of Liposuction, Dr Gerard Illouz. He came back to England and became one of the first surgeons to perform this procedure in the UK.

Andrew has written extensively on the subject of cosmetic surgery. His latest book "Every Woman's Guide to Cosmetic Surgery" published by New Holland Publishers (www.newhollandpublishers.com) is available from July 2007. His other two books "Cosmetic Surgery and Beauty Guide" and "Basic Account of Cosmetic Surgery" have sold thousands of copies. "Basic Account of Cosmetic Surgery" 3rd edition is available from the British Association of Cosmetic Surgeons. To obtain a copy please click onto the BACS link below.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the British Medical Association, the Royal Society of Medicine and the British Association of Cosmetic Surgeons (BACS) . He has held a number of offices with BACS and is currently its President.
