MALE BREAST REDUCTION
An enlarged male breast (gynaecomastia) can be treated by liposuction alone, by direct excision or a combination of the two.
Liposuction alone: See section Liposuction. This is performed via small incisions on the chest wall. The majority of patients can be treated by this method.
Excision: If the enlarged breast is composed primarily of breast tissue, this will not respond to liposuction alone and the glandular tissue is excised through a semicircular incision around the areola from 3 to 9 o'clock.
Combination of above: In some cases once the fat is sucked out and a large deposit of glandular tissue remains, this can be removed by direct excision (as above)
